Syrie/Europe,
un partenariat

La Syrie a commencé un certain nombre de réformes, essentiellement économiques, depuis maintenant deux ans. Un nouveau cabinet ministériel est en place depuis le 13 décembre 2001, soit le second sous le gouvernement du Premier ministre, Mustapha Miro. L’accord de partenariat avec l’Union européenne progresse. La Syrie a économiquement besoin des pays européns et l’Europe a besoin d’elle comme facteur de stabilité régionale. La Syrie est un pays de découvertes incessantes et un puits de culture sans fonds. A la croisée des chemins et des peuples, elle a beaucoup à offrir. Mais ce pays du Moyen-Orient, complexe et souvent insaisissable, surtout du point de vue occidental, suscite toujours beaucoup d’interrogations. Je ne vais pas vous en dire davantage maintenant car j’espère sincérement, qu’à travers cette nouvelle édition de Faits & Projets Magazine, vous y trouverez quelques réponses.

Syria/Europe,
a partnership

Syria began undertaking a certain number of reforms, mostly economic, two years ago. A new cabinet has been in place since December 13, 2001, Prime Minister Mustapha Miro’s second. The partnership agreement with the European Union is progressing. Syria needs European countries for economic reasons, and Europe needs Syria a factor in regional stability. Syria is a country of constant discoveries and a wellspring of culture. At the crossroads of paths and peoples, the country has much to offer. But this complex Middle Eastern country, often difficult to understand – especially by the West – still raises many questions. I won’t say any more now because I sincerely hope that, throughout this new issue of Faits & Projets Magazine, you will find a few answers.
